June 27, 2021- Guess It's Time For An Update!

Image
Hi Everyone, It has been good being able to talk with you and Facetime and see your faces and know that you are doing well.   We are doing well and staying busy.  We have had zone conferences for the past 2 weeks and those are busy days.  We travel. Conferences are held in NH close to the Massachusetts border, Vermont at the Joseph Smith Birthplace and Maine.   We prepare food. We deliver supplies. We check cars. We take pictures. We take time to interact with the missionaries. It's not hard to stay busy.  If we get those tasks done in a timely fashion then we get the chance to sit in on a little of their training.  By the time we return from those days, we are pretty tired and glad to have a day in between that one and the next one.   They are now done until after the next round of transfers.  Transfers middle of July, Zone conferences first 2 weeks in August.   During zone conference the missionaries who are leaving share a...

June 6, 2021- What a Week

Image
We survived our first transfer week!  A busy, fun time. Cars to inspect, supplies to disperse, food to prepare, pictures to take, new missionaries to meet, departing missionaries say goodbyes....By Friday we were happily breathing a sigh of relief - until the next event which is coming fast! This was our first chance to gather with more than just a few missionaries who come into the office every now and then.  As we interacted with both the old and new, there are many words to describe what I saw. Timid, Outgoing, Excited, Terrified, Humble, Confident, Bold, Sad, Happy, Unsure, Accepting, Deer in the Headlights, but most of all -  Born To Share the Message of the Restoration!   That comment was from a departing missionary as he shared some final thoughts on a zoom meeting.  It is so true!!  I love it.   As part of transfer day, the outgoing missionaries, the office missionaries and Pres & Sis Beck drove to Concord MA to the Minute Man N...

June 1, 2021- another week another update

Image
Hope all of you are doing well!  We don't get updates from you as often as we would like... This week's update will start with input from Dad --- Mom seems to have a better grasp of the significant aspects of each week, but I'll add my piece.  Our focus was on routine activities in both our lanes--she as she develops a better feel for the types of events, groups that will attend, and specific food needs for each of these.  We're prepping for Mission Leader Conferences, Transfers, Zone Conferences and (Two week come back training).  Her efforts seem more intense as the date draws closer--what to buy, when to get it, how to package it, when to set it out.  Her first experience with Subway and their poor support has her leery, and she's casting her net wider for more reliable options.  Now that Covid based restrictions on what to serve and where it can be consumed are easing a bit, she may have better options.  Dad's focus is on keeping our cars...

May 26, 2021- Mid Week Update

Image
Decided if I didn't send an update until Sunday, covering 2 weeks might be too long to read.  So I won't include anything about this week, only a couple of highlights from last week. Life in the office is beginning to feel a little more normal.  Of course that depends on the day.  I spent a couple of days last week shopping for groceries for a mission leadership conference which was this week(I'll share more on that in the next letter) Made a trip to Costco which felt pretty normal.  Dad and I made a trip to Lowell Massachusetts last week, so dad could fix a TIWI in some sisters car.  While he is trying to get the thing in and connected, I'm standing  in the parking lot with 5 sister missionaries, getting to know them and keep all of us entertained.   Interesting group of girls. Some more outgoing than others.  But it was fun to get to spend some time with them.  I did not remember to take pictures ...

May 16, 2021- A couple of things about New Hampshire

Image
Hi Fam Hope you are doing well and gearing up for your upcoming week.  Things here continue to keep us busy and some days are longer than others but I think we have all experienced that.   Thought I'd share a couple of New Hampshire tidbits. First of all they LOVE their area code.  603. It can be found everywhere and on everything!  Someone's stroke of genius for promoting tourism is my guess - but it worked.  I will have to be sure to come home with something boasting 603 on it or I don't think anyone will believe we were here.   The Red Arrow Diner - "One of New England's most celebrated diners, this bustling downtown greasy spoon has been catering to politicians, students, artists and everyone in between since 1922".  Dad found this place on yelp when we were looking for a place for breakfast our first Monday here.  We were being kicked out of our parking by 8AM for cleaning and since we don't have to start until 9 we went to b...
